The Balance Between Good and Bad

Today is a good day for me so it’s easy to say that we should take each day as it comes… look beyond the trauma, the stress, the pain and the sorrow and hold your focus on the horizon for the storms never last forever .. they move on quickly (tho it may not seem so) just like the weather.
These are easy words today … because for me at the moment anyway .. the weather is good. But, I have been through many storms and as I reflect back on those times… I have to say that it was keeping my focus on the horizon that got me through each moment of that storm.
In general I am a very positive person.. always looking at the good in everything. That character trait in me has often been the very thing that has gotten me mixed right into the middle of some really bad storms. My eyes, so focused on the positive and the good … that I completely overlooked the bad crap that was standing right in front of me.
So, in saying that … I have to say that we need to find a good balance between the two.
You can’t live your life always looking for that negative aspect of everyone and everything .. for thats all that your world will become.. one giant heap of negative CRAP! You also can’t just look at the positive in everyone and everything … because you will still find yourself deep in the crap.  But it would be unexpected crap and sometimes that can tear your world farther apart than always expecting the worst.
BALANCE is the key… I’m still working on that, myself.
It’s certainly not an easy task.. and I don’t have any clever wisdom that will suddenly make it all come into play…. but what I do know is that as long as you are aware of your own view of the world (yours and the world around you) then at least you are working on it and that is the first step forward.
Remember, you can’t just stop at acknowledgement … it has to be an on going task within yourself to see the whole picture every moment of every day.
Sounds exhausting, I know!
But really what we are talking about here is being awake and aware in this moment.. and this one.. and this one … and the next ..

These Pages

These are the pages of my life…

Turn them with ease, gentleness and care.
My soul, these pages do bare

This path is mine, not unlike yours
Full of many roads, hallways and doors.

Tears, laughter, sorrow and pain
Lessons learned again and again

Secrets whispered in the night
Wishes placed on the wings of butterflies in flight

These pages contain all that is me
Bound in leather, written for all to see

Scrapes and bruises, stitches and scars
Always dreaming beneath the stars

Creating for creation’s sake
Sitting with my love by the lake

Kisses and cuddles late at night
Seeing with second sight

Ghosts and spirits roaming about
Wondering what this life is all about

A smile.. a look
It’s all right here.. written on the pages of this book

Fairy tales that do come true..
Have a seat and let me tell you

My light, at times has nearly gone out
My head filled with so much self doubt

This life has had it’s highs and lows
But that light in me… still it glows

I’ll not give up on the dreams I dream
It’s never as easy as it may seem

Twists and turns, wear and tear
Let me tell you… I’ve been there!

It began with “Once upon a time…”
Just like in those old nursery rhymes

There will be no end… you see
For my soul will continue on buzzing like a bee

So, I’ll see you in the here after
Living Happily ever after.

Many Blessings,

Journey to the Summit

Today the Grandmothers came for a visit ...

Straight away one of them came over and grabbed me by the ear and said "come on, we must go"

"Go where, I asked" ... "nevermind that, just come on"

They said we had to get to the top of that mountain ... as she pointed to this remote, very steep mountain top that looked to be somewhere in Asia.

The mountain was a very tall, thin, pointy looking mountain .. I thought to myself ... OH DEAR! How on earth am I getting up there!!!

I started grabbing a few things as they pulled me to the base of the mountain ... things i thought I might need to help me along the way.

Off we went up the mountain .. the sun beating down on my back felt like a brick house pushing me down .. the grandmothers seems to climb with a whole lot more ease than me .... how could I be out-done by a couple of old ladies!!!

I kept climbing ...

As I climbed I began letting loose of some of those things I thought I needed.. I had to shed some weight to make it to the top.... lightened the load!

I'm not sure how long it took .. seemed like a long time ... but it was still daylight when we reached the top.

I reached the top and there was a bench sitting just overlooking the edge... I made my way over to the bench and sat down.

Exhausted ... I sat there for a while trying to catch my breath and gather my senses.

The grandmothers behind me say .. "What do you see? What do you feel? what do you hear? and what do you know?"

"I know I'm beat!", I thought to myself...

I sat there for a few moments looking out over the amazing view ... wondering to myself... "ok what is it they WANT me to see, hear, feel, and know?" hmmmmmmmmmm

"Forget about us for a moment and just speak your mind", they said.

I took in a deep breath and closed my eayes.. I could smell the flowers .. each scent individual and then a lingering of how they mingled together .. I felt the cool breeze as it washed over my face and brushed through my hair ... I felt the once hot sun ... now warming me as it dried my dripping wet clothes and it felt like a golden hug from heaven.... I could hear the wind as it blew through each blade of grass and how it seems to whisp around the whole mountain, encircling us all... I opened my eyes and I could see clear across the valley below without my glasses even on... the colors on the leaves as the sun played among the branches of every tree...

"Now, what do you know?" they asked

I know that somehow I feel lighter .. even though I am in body the same as when I started up the mountain .... and besides the fact of my material load being gone.. I feel lighter inside myself. I don't quite understand how, but I feel so light that it is as if I could glide down this mountain like a fall leaf in the wind.

I feel weightless... inside and out.

Think about this for a while, they said ... stay here and allow your mind to become crystal clear.

Suddenly I watched the memory of myself climbing this mountain and I watched as I started to lighten my load .. each time I let go of something .. it became something else... like thoughts or behaviors.. my concentration was solely on getting up this mountain and all those things I thought I needed weren't helping at all.. and without thinking about it I began to let these things go .. and suddenly I was at the top.

I smirked .. smart old women ....

We need nothing but what is inside us to make it to where we want to go.. a strong will and a bit of direction and we will get there as long as we don't give up and keep our eyes forward.

Thank you Grandmothers for this journey ... there are always lessons to be learned.

Are We There Yet?

When it comes to that moment of Spiritual enlightenment … that moment we find ourselves atop the mountain … that place we have been searching for our whole lives … that place we believe to be at the end of our path … it’s not about that moment at the top … it’s about our journey getting there.

It’s how we walked the path on the way… how we carried ourselves… the lives we touched… and the changes we made in ourselves.

It’s not a race … and not a competition.. it’s not about being better than anyone else .. it’s about your own growth.

On the way to that mountain top… what did you learn?

How have you changed?

When you look out at the view and see the path you walked… what do you see? How do you feel?

Was it a good life?

Food for thought….

Many Blessings,
